The Perfect Travel Shopping List

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been doing a lot of online shopping and browsing while self-isolating. We’ve gathered a list of 15 travel accessories and gadgets that will help prepare you to pack smarter in a post-COVID world.

1. Packing Cubes

You can find these in all shapes and sizes, but this Eagle Creek set comes in a sturdy material that will be sure to last. Packing cubes help neatly organize your belongings so you know exactly where everything is. Once you start using them, you’ll never be able to go back.

2. Document Organizer

How many times have you thought you lost your passport and panicked only to realize it was slipped in the side of your purse? A RFID blocking document holder will organize passports, tickets, receipts, money, earbuds, and more so it’s all easily accessible. You’ll never have to fumble through your belongings while checking in again!

3. International Travel Adapter

Depending on where you’re going, a plug adapter is often a necessity. This one is multi-functional and can be used in over 150 countries, so you’re set for wherever in the world you want to go.

4. Portable Charger

A portable power bank might be one of the most important things I keep in my carry-on, you never know when your phone’s going to die when you need it most. Invest in one with multiple charging ports for ultimate efficiency.

5. Water Purifier Bottle

Your life literally depends on access to clean water and this bottle is economical and environmentally conscious. It makes water clean in 15 seconds and is laboratory tested for effectiveness against bacteria, protozoa and viruses. Feel free to fill it from rivers, streams, waterfalls, and stray taps!

6. Personal Hotspot

If you’re sick of switching sim cards or relying on risky public networks, invest in a personal hotspot to bring with you while traveling internationally. This one allows up to 10 devices to connect at once, so you can stay productive no matter where you are.

7. Space Saver Bags

These are essential for winter travel or when visiting colder destinations. They help save space in your suitcase to help pack lighter and more efficiently. Usually you seal them with a vacuum, but this one comes with a convenient travel pump.

8. Travel Sheets

You might not think of travel sheets at first when planning for a trip, but these will give you some peace of mind if you are a bed-bug worrier. These also come in handy if you’re staying at hostels, as they often have you rent or pay for your sheets. This one weighs less than an iPhone and is super compact, fitting almost anyway.

9. Luggage Scale

Gone are the days of frantically rearranging your overweight luggage into various shopping bags and purses in the middle of the airport. This luggage scale is affordable, accurate, and small enough to pack with you anywhere.

10. Hanging Toiletry Bag

Organizing all your toiletries and personal hygiene products will make traveling so much less chaotic. This one by Bago is very durable and will last through many vacations. Plus, it’s spacious, but still conveniently folds up to fit in small bags or carry-on luggage.

11. Travel Umbrella

A lot of people might overlook this, but you’ll thank yourself for bringing a compact umbrella when the weather doesn’t go your way. This one is sturdy but still small enough to fit in all your bags and pockets. I used this on a Spring trip to England and Scotland (where it is constantly raining) and found it extremely useful.

12. Travel Scarf

Safety is a concern for many people while traveling, especially in big cities. Avoid pickpockets by storing your iPhone, passport, keys, cash, and more in the hidden pocket of this scarf. It comes in a variety of colors and is even strong enough to hold a hidden flask! Organized packing will surely make your trip more enjoyable.

13. Osprey Fairview Travel pack - 70

There’s no mistaking that I love Osprey products, and this bag is one of my absolute favorites. Although it doesn’t have wheels (a wheeled version is offered), the ability to disconnect a smaller day pack from this bag to carry your essentials in throughout the day makes this the perfect purchase. Think this is a great bag for you? It’s currently on sale due to the COVID-19 crisis, costing only $149 with free shipping on all orders.

14. Ipsy Subscription

Ipsy is a personalized beauty subscription that sends you monthly packages of makeup and beauty samples for only $12/month. Through an online quiz, they match your skin shade, hair type, preferred colors, and more so that they can provide you with the best products on the market. These are great for traveling, as the products come in a compact sample size and are often under the 3oz liquid limit. Also, each month the products come in a fashionable makeup-bag that is the perfect size to throw in a travel bag.

15. Cure Your Fernweh Hoodie

The word Fernweh (loosely meaning homesick for a place you’ve never been) has always had a special meaning to me - so much that I have it tattooed on my body, and now you can too - we'll at least on your clothing. With a cozy fleece lining, this Bella & Canvas hoodie is the perfect product to buy for an upcoming flight.
